About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineer at Avride, you’ll diagnose and fix mechanical and electronic issues in our autonomous fleet, lead vehicle assembly and system integration, and manage small-scale production of wiring harnesses. You’ll create assembly instructions, prototype parts using CAD, and ensure fleet safety and consistency.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electronic problems, perform routine inspections, diagnostics and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance of vehicles in the autonomous fleet.
  • Assembly and start-up of autonomous vehicles, including integration of additional autonomous systems.
  • Developing and overseeing small batch production of automotive wiring harnesses designed for autonomous systems, ensuring quality control.
  • Create detailed assembly instructions for additional systems to simplify vehicle reconfiguration for mechanical teams, enabling effective knowledge transfer and standardization of processes.
  • Independently fabricate and assemble components based solely on technical drawings and schematics.
  • Creating prototypes and using CAD software for design and modeling.
  • Performing work with different types of materials, machining methods, various machine tools and locksmithing equipment, and knowledge of safety.
  • Monitor and manage fleet configurations, ensuring consistency and compliance with safety standards.
  • Support autonomous fleet expansion by overseeing assembly and deployment to various international locations.
  • Determine qualifications of technicians and participate in the recruitment and training of specialized personnel.

What You'll Need

  • At least 10 years of experience working as a Mechanical Engineer or similar.
  • At least 10 years of experience in automotive service, diagnostics and assembly, including experience with custom mechanical and electronic systems, as well as experience with autonomous vehicles.
  • Confident knowledge of modern diagnostic tools, methods of processing various materials using various tools and equipment. (diagnostic scanners or computer diagnostic software, 3d printers,CNC machine, TIG or MIG welding, lathe, Working with fiberglass or carbon fiber)
  • Ability to work with CAD software (for 3d design such as Solid Works, AutoCAD, or other) to design prototypes and model simple mechanical parts.
  • Ability to work independently from technical drawings and schematics.
  • At least one year of experience in setting up and operating small production lines for automotive wiring harnesses.
  • Excellent documentation skills to create assembly instructions and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with fleet and equipment management, version control and safety compliance processes.
